I have always loved food but with this came struggles with weight. When I graduated from college almost 50 pounds overweight, I knew I had to make some drastic adjustments. I tried many diets and diet foods but what finally worked permanently was adding whole, unprocessed foods into my daily diet, moving my body more and not worrying about everything I put into my mouth. Over time I saw steady improvement, losing weight and feeling better.
I had discovered the fundamental connection between nutrition and overall health. Food has the power not only to change the way we look, feel, and relate to the world, but it also has the power to prevent disease and chronic health issues that arise as we get older. Food and lifestyle truly are our best anti-aging tools. I have become passionate about the message of food as medicine and I know that if more people understood it, making lifestyle changes would be easier. I am a lifelong athlete who wants to stay vital and I want to teach others that it is possible for all even if you have never liked exercise or been a good eater.
