I have always loved food but with this came struggles with weight. When I graduated from college almost 50 pounds overweight, I knew I had to make some drastic adjustments. I tried many diets and diet foods but what finally worked permanently was adding whole, unprocessed foods into my daily diet, moving my body more and not worrying about everything I put into my mouth. Over time I saw steady improvement, losing weight and feeling better.
I had discovered the fundamental connection between nutrition and overall health. Food has the power not only to change the way we look, feel, and relate to the world, but it also has the power to prevent disease and chronic health issues that arise as we get older. Food and lifestyle truly are our best anti-aging tools. I have become passionate about the message of food as medicine and I know that if more people understood it, making lifestyle changes would be easier. I am a lifelong athlete who wants to stay vital and I want to teach others that it is possible for all even if you have never liked exercise or been a good eater.
I practice a bio-individual approach to health and nutrition where we work together to find the right combination of foods and exercise that works specifically for you. This is accomplished in easy to implement steps, so that you have time to experiment with food and work new things into your life with support from a qualified coach. By listening to our bodies, we can learn as much from our failures as from our successes. A wonderful bonus is my clients find they begin to like and crave healthier foods. I can help you balance your system, permanently lose the weight you have been trying to lose for years and set you on a new path to continued wellness.
I specialize in women and teens who want to lose weight, have more energy, or have stronger athletic performance, while also reducing the risk of chronic health symptoms. You set the goals and together we work to achieve them. You will feel better, have more energy and have a greater sense of control over your life.
During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
I have a certification as a health coach from the Wellness Forum Institute for Health Studies in Ohio and I am board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I am also trained in myofacial release. Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
I have spent the past 8 years working in the health industry as a representative for a whole food supplement and have worked my entire life at successfully managing my own weight issues. As a life-long athlete, I am committed to finding the best secrets to staying young and healthy.
